About Rugeley Rifle Club

Rugeley Rifle club is a fully authorised club under Home Office regulations and is affiliated to the National body The National Small-Bore Rifle Association.

Its ranges are certified as being compliant and safe and the club is operated by means of the management committee which controls all aspects of shooting activity undertaken on the facilities at the Clubs premises at Wharf Road Rugeley WS15 1BL.

Rugeley Rifle Club can trace its origins to when it was a shooting section of Rugeley Rangers, which was formed as a militia in 1879 as a Defence of the Realm Volunteer Regiment. The regiment was located on Cannock Chase where they shot at various locations within the Cannock Chase area.

The current building and range complex was purpose built at Wharf Road Rugeley and opened in 1971 and since has gone through various stages of improvement.

The club is available for all persons, including disabled, and there is a policy to encourage new people to join. We cater for all forms of competitive forms of shooting within the limits of the law up to 0 .22 calibre rifles or pistols.

The ranges are certified for uses of 0.22 rimfire with ranges at 25 yards (indoor), 50 meters and 100 yards outdoors

Whilst the club encourages competitive target shooting, this is within a friendly atmosphere and members can take part in the enjoyment of the shooting experience at whatever level they wish.

The club also offers the use of a selection of good quality 0.22" rimfire rifles, Air rifles and Air Pistols; these are free for use of any member or probationary member of the club.
